The Location
Situated on the nearby hills of Albisola Marina: Jorn’s House Museum offers the most incredible and amazing experience of a natural and architectural environment, created by the free imagination of one of the most important artists of the 900’s : Asger Jorn (Denmark, Vejrum 1914- Aarhus 1973).
Other than being a painter and sculptor, Jorn wrote many essays about art theory and also, he was one of the main founders of some avant-garde groups, such as, CoBrA (1948-1951), Imaginist Bauhaus (1953-1957), International Situationists (1957- ), Scandivano Institute for Compared Vandalismo (1961- ).
He came to Albisola in the spring of 1954. In 1957 he purchased two old buildings and their surrounding areas. With the support of his indispensable friend and assistant, Umberto Gambetta (Berto), he restructured and modified the buildings’ settings according to the principals of free and spontaneous immagination.
