CERAMICS FROM LIGURIA BETWEEN THE END OF THE NINETEENTH AND THE BEGINNING OF THE TWENTIETH CENTURY.

The historic furnaces of Savona and Albisola
Fornace Alba Docilia / September 7 - October 6, 2019
curated by Carla Bracco, Monica Bruzzo, Federico Marzinot.

With the exhibition of over seventy pieces - from the second half of the nineteenth century to the seventies of the twentieth - the exhibition illustrates the story of the Poggi manufactory, whose main actors were Nicolò Poggi (1865-1915) and Lina Poggi Assalini (1907-2002).
As part of the fourteenth edition of the "International Festival of Maiolica" and a long-term project dedicated to aspects of the history of Ligurian ceramics, The Association Lino Berzoini promotes the exhibition dedicated to two prominent members of the family of ceramists Poggi. The exhibition is made possible thanks to the contribution of the Municipality of Albissola Marina and Coop Liguria.
Nicolò Poggi from the end of the nineteenth century has proposed the majolica in Albisola at the "Poggi Ceramiche", followed then, at least in 1913, by Giuseppe Piccone, whose factory was then, with that of the Poggi’s,  the most important in Albisola; with the "Quaglino Poggi" he was, in particular, the only one to propose the Liberty style in the ceramics of Albisola, at the beginning of the nineteenth century.
Lina Poggi Assalini - ceramist, sculptor, stylist, gallerist, promoter of cultural events - was the only woman owner of a factory within the  Ligurian ceramics from 1929 to 1972.
The exhibition is linked to a second exhibition area, entitled "Ceramiche liguri tra fine Ottocento e inizio Novecento. The historic furnaces of Savona and Albisola people", can be visited at the Furnace Alba Docilia Albissola Marina from 7 September to  6 October.
